The Seahawks have ruled left guard James Carpenter out for Sunday’s game against the Vikings at CenturyLink Field because of a concussion.
Carpenter started but did not finish practice on Friday and was added to the injury report as questionable for the game because of illness. Today, his status was changed to out.
Carpenter, last year’s first-round draft choice, had started the previous five games at left guard after returning from a severe knee injury that ended his rookie season last November. His return was timely, because right guard John Moffitt was sidelined with a knee injury.
Now, Moffitt is ready to return after missing the past five games. He could step in at right guard, where Paul McQuistan has been starting. That would allow McQuistan to return to the left side, where he started the first three games.
