Talking with veteran linebacker Leroy Hill today about the Seahawks’ unique-looking defense prompted a thought: How many different starters have shared the huddle with Hill in his six seasons as a starter?
After all, since being a third-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, Hill has played for three head coaches (Mike Holmgren, Jim Mora and Pete Carroll); three defensive coordinators (Ray Rhodes, John Marshall and Gus Bradley); and three position coaches (Marshall, Zerick Rollins and Ken Norton).
But that’s nothing compared to the number of other starters:
Ends (7) – Bryce Fisher, Patrick Kerney, Red Bryant, Grant Wistrom, Darryl Tapp, Lawrence Jackson, Chris Clemons
Tackles (8) – Chuck Darby, Brandon Mebane, Rocky Bernard, Marcus Tubbs, Craig Terrill, Colin Cole, Alan Branch, Clinton McDonald
Outside linebackers (5) – D.D. Lewis, Kevin Bentley, Julian Peterson, Aaron Curry, K.J. Wright
Middle linebackers (3) – Lofa Tatupu, David Hawthorne, Wright
Cornerbacks (9) – Kelly Herndon, Andre Dyson, Jordan Babineaux, Brandon Browner, Marcus Trufant, Kelly Jennings, Josh Wilson, Walter Thurmond, Richard Sherman
