A closer look at seventh-round draft choice Greg Scruggs:
Pick: No. 25 in the round, No. 232 overall. The pick was acquired Friday in a trade with the Jets.
Pertinent information: 6 feet 3, 284 pounds. … Missed three games because of a toe injury that bothered him all of last season and finished with 19 tackles. … Started 12 games in 2009 and had 24 tackles, and six games in 2010 with 14 tackles. … Played on the nation’s top-ranked team at Xavier High School in Cincinnati. … Born Aug. 17, 1990.
What he brings: Another big body and some versatility to the mix on the defensive line.
Where he fits: He will play the five-technique end spot initially for the Seahawks, but he also played nose tackle in a 3-4 for Louisville, three-technique tackle in the 4-3 and also some standup end.
What he’s saying: “Obviously it was disappointing (to miss the final two games last season). Being as going into the season I had high expectations for myself, the coaches had high expectations for me and the team did as well. But you can’t look back on it. It’s disappointing. It’s water under the bridge. You look back and learn, think about things you could have done differently. … Now, it’s just time to move forward.”
