Those boots were made for walking, but the Sea Gals used them for dancing last weekend.
As part of Military Appreciation Day surrounding Sunday’s Seahawks-Giants game, the Sea Gals took part in the “Boot Campaign” by wearing combat boots during their pregame performance. It was a special experience for the Sea Gals.
“I’d be lying if I said dancing in combat boots was easy but performing in them on game day was an absolute blast,” Sea Gal Miranda said.
The troupe practiced in the heavy boots for several weeks leading up to the game so they’d be prepared for the unique footwear come Sunday. The new shoes were met with some ionitial skepticism from the Sea Gals. Miranda said she first thought, “good grief these boots are heavy. How on earth are we going to dance in them? Dancing in 3-inch heels, I can do. Dancing in combat boots just might end with me face first on the turf.”
“But once I put them on, those concerns washed away as I thought about the men and women who wear them every day,” Miranda said. “Our troops carry the weight of this country on their shoulders; their boots need to be heavy! Suddenly, I felt thankful, humbled, and above all honored to have the opportunity to walk in their shoes.”
Boots worn by the Sea Gals will by signed and auctioned off, with an accompanying 2011 Sea Gals Calendar, to support our troops and veterans. More information is available at www.bootcampaign.com.
