Change of setting

The weather is wreaking havoc on the Seahawks’ practice routine today. But they’re learning a key football lesson in the process — how to adjust. During this morning’s staff meeting, assistant offensive line coach Art Valero, who doubles as the in-house weatherman, revealed his forecast for the day, declaring on the whiteboard in large red [...]

Bright and early

The Seahawks are back at it this morning, returning to Virginia Mason Athletic Center for their sixth OTA of the offseason. The schedule mirrors the previous five OTAs, with two hours of meetings and a 90-minute practice. The team will then conduct another OTA on Thursday before taking a 10-day break. Here’s a look at [...]

Men at work

Players conduct snatch exercises in the weight room during this morning’s strength and conditioning workouts. The Seahawks have today off from OTAs, but the offseason training regimen is continuing on with the weightlifting and conditioning sessions.

A break on the horizon

One of the busiest weeks of the offseason rumbles on today with strength and conditioning workouts at VMAC, which are sandwiched between OTAs on Monday and Wednesday. The Seahawks will also conduct an OTA on Thursday before breaking for 10 days starting on Friday. Coach Pete Carroll calls the respite, the first significant time off for [...]

Happy birthday

The Seahawks’ John Schneider, one of the youngest general managers in the NFL, is celebrating his 39th birthday today.

Not so Golden oldies

Golden Tate singing Taylor Swift? Believe it. The Seahawks’ second-round draft choice hasn’t only done it – as you can see in this video – he owns up to it. “Yeah,” Tate said after Monday’s OTA session when asked if he was indeed a Taylor Swift fan. Looking and sounding a bit surprised that his [...]

On the mend

Tailback Leon Washington (left), who’s recovering from a broken leg, and wideout Deion Branch (middle), who’s coming back from knee surgery, go through running rehabilitation exercises under the guidance of assistant athletic trainer Donald Rich this morning on the outdoor practice fields at VMAC. Both are hoping to return to practice in time for training [...]

Business in Big D

The NFL spring meetings are occurring this week in Dallas, and the topics on the table are the location of the 2014 Super Bowl and new overtime rules, among other subjects. The Seahawks’ representatives at the three-day meetings are CEO Tod Leiweke, CFO Karen Harrison and vice president of football administration John Idzik.

Situational improvement

Like a puzzle, the pieces are coming together. During the ongoing OTAs, each day features the installation of a new chapter of the team’s strategy on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Monday featured a heavy dose of situational work from the “fringe” — the area just past midfield but before the red [...]
