Give them a break

The grind has come to a temporary halt.

Following a week with three OTAs, the Seahawks are now taking a 10-day break from football. Coaches have been going virtually nonstop — working on the draft, minicamps and OTAs — since being hired in January, and players have been entrenched in offseason workouts, practices and meetings for more than two straight months. Needless to say, the break is much-needed and long-awaited.

“It’s been a good haul,” Coach Pete Carroll told his team. “Let’s get a good break so we can come back and finish the offseason strong.”

Before saying goodbye, Carroll sent the players on their break with a father-like reminder about maintaining proper behavior, repeating the organization’s first rule of thumb, “always protect the team.”

“The actions you make represent who we are,” the head coach said. “As always, rule No. 1 is in effect.”
