Friday in Hawkville

A recap of the day’s activities at Seahawks minicamp: FOCUS ON LenDale White. The third, and final, day of the NFL draft last week dawned very early for the Tennessee Titans’ running back. It started with a crack-of-dawn phone call from Pete Carroll, his old coach at USC and suddenly his new coach with the [...]

Whistle while you work

With his favorite ’70s funk music blaring in the defensive staff room tonight, Coach Pete Carroll reclines in a chair and watches film from this afternoon’s practice, the first of the Seahawks’ three-day mandatory minicamp.

Special visitor

Coach Pete Carroll chats with Mariners designated hitter Mike Sweeney, who attended this morning’s walk-thru as a guest of the team.

Now it’s official

Walter Jones just concluded the news conference to announce his retirement from Seahawks after 13 seasons. It was emotional, but also humorous, as Jones sat on the stage in the auditorium at Virginia Mason Athletic Center all by himself. The nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle thanks a litany of people, from his former coaches and teammates [...]

Free-agent Madness: Kitna vs. Robinson

Yesterday: Mack Strong turned in a – what else – strong showing in his matchup against Joe Nash. The former lead-blocker for a trio of 1,000-yard rusher collected 76 percent of the votes, or 277. That left Nash, who played more games than anyone in franchise history, with 24 percent, or 88 votes. Strong moves [...]

Rising excitement

Pete Carroll can hardly contain himself. As the Seahawks inch closer to their first practice of this initial full-team minicamp, the head coach is beaming with anticipation. “This is a really, really exciting time for us,” Carroll said. “The new guys are mixing in and it’s the first time the whole team has come together. [...]

Doubling up

We interrupt Walter Jones Day, as proclaimed by Gov. Christian Gregoire, for a look at the Seahawks’ minicamp roster. A long look. A shades-of-Chuck-Knox look. The club has 101 players on hand for today’s first practice, which is scheduled to begin at 1:30. How is this possible in the era of the 80-man roster limit? [...]

Minicamp guest blog: Matt Hasselbeck

Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will be giving you his perspective throughout this weekend’s minicamp in a daily guest blog. Here’s his first entry as the team begins the minicamp today: We finished the first minicamp with a lot of positive feelings about the team and the direction we’re headed, knowing there were going to be [...]
